SIMEC Biomass Pellets Torrefaction Plant is developed to convert densified “white” biomass pellets into “black” torrefied pellets. The complete torrefaction plant is designed and built by Henan Sinovo Machinery Engineering Co. Ltd (SIMEC), while the torrefaction reactor and the process adopt the patented technology from our strategic partner. The technology provides the opportunity to torrefy “white” biomass pellets directly with minimal dust and small particles, thus safeguarding the quality of torrefied “black” pellets to meet international standard, while optimizing the overall energy consumption of the complete plant.

Black torrefied biomass pellets are promoted as a kind of drop-in clean bio fuel for co-firing in existing coal firing power plants, the utilization of torrefied biomass pellets do not need to major modify the existing equipment to meet the strict carbon emission regulations.
The main benefit to use black torrefied biomass pellets in existing coal firing power plants is to avoid costly equipment conversion in Capital Expenditure (Capex) associated with the high percentage co-firing with white biomass pellets.
SIMEC Torrefaction Plant is running continuously in optimal auto-thermal mode to minimize mass lost and optimize the energy density between 21 GJ/mt to 25GJ/mt of the black torrefied pellets by using state-of-the-art technologies such as contactless sensors, Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered process control, Internet of Thing (IoT) connection to our central control center for big data analytics, remote diagnostics and real time production and quality monitoring. Approved stakeholders such as producers, importers and power plants operators could remotely monitor the production process via mobile phones.
Black torrefied biomass pellets are hydrophobic and have the characteristics like coal so that storage in open air may not pose any problem as well as the grinding process together with coal.

It consists of torrefaction reactor of 1 meter in diameter and about 1.5m high (without counting the upper and lower hoppers), a white biomass pellets feeding system, a hot gas distribution system, a heating system, a cooling system and an Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered process control system with internet access.
The capacity is around 450 kgs/hour torrefied pellets, depending on incoming white pellets moisture content and required torrefied pellets energy density in GJ/mt.

The capacity is around 10 mt/hour torrefied pellets, depending on incoming white pellets moisture content and required torrefied pellets energy density in GJ/mt.
