SIMEC is working on a palm leaves and palm trunks pellet project in Cyprus. Our design is to process both palm leaves and trunks at the same time. So the loader just load all raw materials into material receiving inlet. Since palm leaves and trunks have quite different sizes, hardness and shapes, the shredding and crushing system will be very important. It must be guaranteed that both types of raw materials can be crushed to be small particles meanwhile. So the crushed material can be further dried and pelletized.
To make the test and improve our design, we imported 100Kg palm leaves and trunks from Cyprus.

The palm trunk is the smooth surface species without fiber around, moisture content is about 40-50%, palm leaves are green and made up of several smaller leaves that are attached to the spine.

Our test includes two steps:
1.Use Solid Waste Shredder to shred palm leaves and trunks into smaller pieces.

Shredder SD1500, our sample test machine, has quite thick knives. So the shredded material is big pieces. Actually the sizes of shredded material can be much smaller by adjusting design of knives and teeth. Shredded size could be customized as per clients’ requirements.

Result of our test is very successful. Crushed material is small enough for dryer and pellet mill.
